Home Education Admission Policy/Process/Procedure
(Last Updated 2006-10-05)
Portage College recognizes that those individuals who have followed a non-traditional route for education may still possess the capabilities and competencies required to enter post-secondary training programs. As such, our College recognizes the need to provide admission opportunities that are as fair and equitable as possible for these learners, as compared to those who have completed a basic education through regular schooling.
Process for application:
1. Applicants will be asked to provide a transcript/portfolio of learning for review by the Admissions Advisor/ Program Coordinator
2. Applicants may be asked to provide a writing sample (essay question)
3. Applicants may provide copies of any other formal assessments performed within the past 3 years (e.g., SAT exams or psychological assessments)
4. Applicants may be asked to submit or complete any other specific course related assessments (ie. Bio, Math, Chem, etc.) as required by the program, to be determined according to program. This will be organized as required through assistance from the Dean of Learning and Employment Foundations and the Supervisor of Admission.
All students interested in applying to Portage College programs are encouraged to contact a Student Advisor to discuss their application in more detail.
