People sometimes ask me, “What should our graduating kids do this fall? I really want them to get a university education, but I’d sure like to keep them home one more year. I think the transition to regular university could be quite overwhelming.”
It’s a good question – and I can understand why some parents would prefer to keep the family intact for at least one more year after completion of high school at home.
FOCUS (Freshman Online Certificate – University Studies could be the ideal option.
FOCUS is offered by Trinity Western, one of North America’s premier Christian universities, and the largest Christian university in Canada.
There are approximately 4,000 students enrolled in 39 undergrad and 15 graduate programs.
Trinity Western University was established in 1962 and is situated on a beautiful 157 acres wooded campus with its own salmon stream. The university is less than hours drive from the Pacific Ocean and Vancouver, the country’s third largest city.
FOCUS is all about community and online learners stay together in community and get to know each other. It is a welcoming place, and a faculty learning coach is available to work with students every step of the way on an essay, study skills or research, for example.
Our current students really enjoy FOCUS, and some of them are even working full-time, although we don’t recommend it. Prospective students should plan for about 25-30 hours a week to succeed.
All courses offer a solid Christian worldview and professors are fully qualified and generally possess a PhD or some other terminal degree.
Courses in FOCUS are fully transferable and accredited (in contrast to some of the online programs offered by unaccredited colleges).
If you or someone you know are interested – call me immediately toll free 1-866-402-1897, extension 3899. I am enrolling right now!
