Home Education Admission Policy/Process/Procedure

Please Note: Directives are intended for students who lack Alberta Programs of Study Accreditation and serve only as guidelines when seeking or preparing for admission equivalents (alternatives) to Alberta 30 level requirements.
Specific admission requirements vary with programs.

Olds College does not generally require the completion of a high school diploma for admission purposes, and only requires students to provide proof that they meet the necessary pre-requisites to succeed in their chosen program of study. Home Educated students without provincial transcripts should be prepared to provide a complete portfolio outlining the subjects taken and the content of the subjects so that an evaluation can take place by Olds College to determine if the necessary content has been covered. Many programs offer "Alternate Admission", which allows applicants to submit resumes, letters of reference and letter of intent in lieu of one of the required courses for admission. Note that alternate admission is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and admission is not guarenteed.
