Education Unlimited Privacy Policy

Education Unlimited Network (referred to as “we,” “our,” or “us”), operating as Education Unlimited Academy, and under the brands Education Unlimited and Activities Unlimited, is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our students, parents, staff, volunteers, and community members.

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in compliance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

1. Who We Are

Education Unlimited Network is an Alberta-accredited, funded private school authority. We operate the following websites:

  • educationunlimited.ca (Education Unlimited, Education Unlimited Academy)

  • activitiesunlimited.ca (Activities Unlimited)

Each brand within our organization may collect and manage personal information specific to its programming and services, as outlined in this policy.

2. Definition of Personal Information

Under PIPA, “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, including but not limited to:

  • Full name, contact information, and address

  • Date of birth

  • Educational and academic records

  • Parent/guardian and emergency contact information

  • Payment, invoicing, and transaction information

  • Information related to event or education program registration

3. Collection of Personal Information

We collect personal information for purposes that are reasonable and necessary to deliver educational and extracurricular services. This may include but not be limited to:

  • Student registration and educational programming

  • Administration of academic records and reporting

  • Communication with families and staff

  • Event and activity coordination through Activities Unlimited

  • Legal, funding, and accreditation compliance with Alberta Education

  • Banking information necessary for remitting Parent Resource funding disbursements.

We collect personal information directly from individuals, or their legal guardians in the case of minors. In some cases, we may collect information from third parties with your consent or as authorized by law.

Education Unlimited does not store credit card or debit card information for purchases made through activitiesunlimited.ca.

4. Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We use and disclose personal information only for the purposes it was collected or as otherwise permitted or required under PIPA.

Activities Unlimited – Event Registration:

When you register for an event or activity on activitiesunlimited.ca, we collect specific personal information, including participant names, contact details, and preferences, which we use to:

  • Purchase tickets on your behalf

  • Schedule and coordinate events

  • Confirm participation and communicate details relevant to the activity

By registering for an event or activity, you are deemed to have given implicit consent to the use and limited disclosure of your information necessary to administer that event.

We may share relevant registration details with:

  • Event coordinators or service providers

  • Venues or third-party ticket vendors

  • Supervisors or volunteers (as needed for safety or logistics)

We do not sell or rent personal information.

5. Consent

We seek informed consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, except where otherwise permitted or required by law.

Consent may be:

  • Express: Given verbally, electronically, or in writing

  • Implied: Where the purpose is obvious and voluntarily provided (e.g., registration for an event or enrolment in school)

You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations and reasonable notice.

6. Protection of Personal Information

We take appropriate safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, including:

  • Secure digital systems and password protection

  • Limited access based on role or necessity

  • Regular privacy training for staff and volunteers

Information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill its intended purpose or comply with applicable regulations. It is then securely destroyed or anonymized.

7. Access and Correction

You have the right to request access to your personal information in our custody and to request corrections if you believe it is inaccurate or incomplete.

To make such a request, contact our Privacy Officer in writing using the information below. We will respond in accordance with PIPA requirements.

8. Cookie Policy

Websites owned and operated by Education Unlimited (including but not limited to educationunlimited.ca and activitiesunlimited.ca) use "cookies."  A cookie is a small file placed on your computer's hard drive.  It enables our website to identify your computer as you view pages on our website.  Users are given a unique session id that is then used with our server to keep track of which user/family they have signed in as. Furthermore, we use Google Analytics, which provides us with various statistical data about our visitors and traffic, and as part of doing that it creates a couple of cookies as well.

9. Third-Party Websites

Our websites may contain links to external websites. This policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage users to read their privacy policies before submitting personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect legal or operational changes. The most current version will be posted on our websites with the effective date noted above.
