Home Education Admission Policy/Process/Procedure

Please Note: Directives are intended for students who lack Alberta Programs of Study Accreditation and serve only as guidelines when seeking or preparing for admission equivalents (alternatives) to Alberta 30 level requirements.
Specific admission requirements vary with programs.

Applicants must meet the following requirements for all programs. 1. Canadian high school Grade 12 graduate or its equivalent, or a mature student (defined as being 19 years of age as of the start date of the program and has accurately represented their age and other required information to determine they meet the admission criteria to the ITD Canada programs). 2. Proof of English Language Proficiency – one of the following IELTS: 5.5 (or better) or TOEFL (paper): 520 (or better) or TOELF (CBT): 190 (or better) or TOEFL (IBT): 70 (or better) or Canadian High School Diploma or Cambridge: CAE (or better) or Pre-Intermediate (or better) Certificate from a Language Canada accredited school or The student has lived and worked in an English speaking country longer than 10 years or Has earned a Grade 12 graduation diploma from a Canadian high school or earned a diploma from secondary school (or above) in a system in which English is the official language of instruction Passed the college’s English Assessment Test at the Pre-intermediate level for all programs. English language proficiency test scores will only be accepted if they are dated within the last 2 calendar years from the programs start date. The admission criteria cannot be waived by either the college or the applicant.
